Characterization of milk production in Parintins, State of Amazonas, Brazil
Abstract
The purpose was to characterize the dairy production in the municipality of Parintins, State of Amazonas, considering 25 variables related to the technological level of the production units. Forty properties were selected and the data collected were analyzed for Cluster, aiming to identify groups of properties with similar characteristics. Subsequently, data from each group were submitted to descriptive analysis. Four groups - named A, B, C and D - were formed and their productivities were 0.42, 0.74, 8.92 and 4.39 L ha-1 d-1, respectively. Manual milking and non-cooling of milk occur in 100% of the properties. Only the properties that are part of group C present milk production as their main source of income. Dairy farming in the municipality of Parintins does not present any specialization and the current production is a mixed livestock diversification (beef-milk) based on the extensive and extractive raising systems.Downloads
