Abstract

Family farming presents a great diversity of productive practices based on intergenerational and scientific knowledge. These different types of management resulted in a heterogeneous productive scenario built from an autonomy in the dimensions of production. These agroecological practices contribute to a broad discussion and construction of local sustainable development. Therefore, the objective of this work is to study the relation of the management forms with a production and effect that thinning of the strains entails in the conformation of the plots and in the characteristics of the clumps handled in real situation as a contribution to an evaluation and the understanding of the forms of management of native açaí populations with a view to the sustainable management of this species. Landscape observation and analysis were used as well as non-directive interviews, semi-structured questionnaires and semi-random sampling. The study concluded that management is the main factor of açaí fruit productivity and because of this, it provided three different types of productive plots, named in the study as Treatment 1 (Farmer Management), Treatment 2 (Management of technical guidance) and Treatment 3 (Extractivism) with great morphological heterogeneity in the plant populations and a different production rhythm among the clumps as to the existence of a greater or lesser amount of green fruits and spadix in the stipes.
