Abstract

Dinizia excelsa Ducke is a large tree belonging to the family Leguminosae, providing wood with commercial application. This paper aims to define the type of substrate and more suitable for the germination of seeds of D. excelsa temperature. We conducted an experiment in a factorial 3 x 3, using the substrates of sand (SA), on paper (SP) and vermiculite (SV), at constant temperatures of 25 and 30 ° C and 20-30 ° C alternating. The statistical design was a completely randomized factorial with four replicates of 25 seeds each, where the following parameters were analyzed: percentage of germination (criterion of primary root protrusion and normal seedling) and average time of germination period (days). Tested temperatures and substrates used were suitable for testing germination of D. excelsa, both for the primary root protrusion as for normal seedling. The substrates on filter paper and on vermiculite at 30 ° C were the most suitable for the protrusion of the primary root treatments. For normal seedling, and the sand on the substrate at a temperature of 30 ° C proved to be more appropriate.
