Abstract
With the aim of studying the income and the use of hand labor between family farms of the Commonwealth of New Colony, municipality of Captain Wells, For, this study was conducted. Seven production systems were identified, the most important being what brings temporary + permanent + small animal cultures that is adopted by 60% of the studied households. In terms of net income, found a value of R $ 4,750.00, equivalent to three minimum wages per month, approximately twice the average income of the state's family farms. Another important information obtained relates to the fact that 70% of family production units employ hand labor temporary wage and 30% employ only hand labor family.
