REGIONALIZATION OF STREAMFLOWS IN THE MIDDLE AND UPPER TELES PIRES RIVER - MT
Abstract
The regionalization of minimum and medium streamflows provides subsidies for the management of water resources, especially in aspects related to water use concessions and streamflow regularizations. Thus, the aim of the current study was to regionalize the minimum streamflow associated with the permanence of 95% (Q95) and the long-term medium streamflow (Qml) in the middle and upper Teles Pires River, in Mato Grosso State. Historical series of nine fluviometric stations as well as the following physical characteristics of the basin were used to regionalize the streamflows: drainage area (AD); perimeter (P); axial length (L); and total length of the water courses (Ltotal). Linear, potential, exponential and logarithmic regression models were adjusted. It was possible to identify a single hydrologically homogeneous region for Q95 and Qml in the middle and upper Teles Pires River. AD and Ltotal were the explanatory variables that enabled the best regression models adjustments in the regionalization of Q95, where as AD and L enabled the best regression models adjustments in the regionalization of Qml. The regionalization equations show good results and may be used in the water resource management process in the study area.
