Rooting of CLONES guarana TREATED WITH ACID INDOL ?? í-butyl-3 ?? RICO (AIB)
Abstract
Vegetative propagation of guarana by cuttings is very important for the breeding program, because it allows the setting of the selected at any stage of the program, regardless of the breeding method used genotypes. Guarana stakes treated with IBA rooting is the method used for the various clones. This work was carried out to evaluate the behavior as the rooting of clones guarana submitted to various concentrations of IBA. The experiment was conducted by Embrapa Western Amazon in 1999, in the nurseries of the Experimental Field of Manaus and the Experimental Maués, on a completely randomized design in a factorial arrangement with 11 clones and six doses of guarana plant hormone IBA with 4 replications and 10 plants per plot. The results suggest that there is genetic variability for the character rooting percentage, it is possible to group the clones of guarana in four classes, according to the ease of rooting. Clones behave in the same way as the roots, regardless of the level of IBA used. Increasing doses of IBA inhibits rooting of clones guarana.
