Histological ASPECTS OF OSTEOPOROSIS IN AND BUFFALOES FI ?? SICO-chi ?? MICA BONE AND COPPER hepi ?? TICO CONDITION
Abstract
Aimed to study the morphological and histological aspects of osteoporosis and the mean values of calcium, phosphorus, ash and bone density and liver copper buffaloes reared in Marajó Island and slaughtered for consumption. 110 animals were used: 39 youth and 71 adults, with Body Condition Index between 1 and 2 We evaluated a group of young animals and another for adults. The assessment of bone porosity was first performed at the slaughterhouse and later sections of metacarpal and rib already fixed (for each case) were reevaluated and classified by the degree of porosity, using a esteromicroscópico. Respectively, 98.44 and 96.16% of young adult animals had some degree of osteoporosis. Buffalo in young adults and the average values were low phosphorus (10.69%) of ash (60.24%) and bone mineral density (1.46 g / ml) and liver copper (19.51 mg / kg). Histologically, osteoporosis cases young animals showed that in most cases showed the trabeculae of the thin and elongated metaphysis and more separated from each other. Some trabeculae showed up short and in the diaphysis, were thin and spaced less than the metaphysis. In adult animals, the trabeculae in the metaphysis and diaphysis were also thin and / or spaced. Respectively, 10.94% and 3.85% of the young and adult animals showed cortical bone rather slender, with discontinuity in some segments.Downloads
